Installation Information

Service Terms and Pricing - Call 207-271-2801 to sign-up for pre-installation.

To be clear, a $60 non-refundable deposit will be collected. These funds will go directly to the town of Washington. New service may be deferred up to 12 months after service is installed. In other words, customers can sign up installation, then defer the start of service for up to 12 months. We understand that many have continuing commitments to Consolidated Communications, and we felt offering this option may help to mitigate this conflict. Mention that you want service deferred when you sign up with Axiom. Seasonal rates are from May 1st to October 31st. These dates are fixed and can not be changed. Fees for the season are due prior to May 1st before the start of the service.

Several inquiries were directed to reducing the monthly costs for our services. Axiom participates in the new federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which will offer $30 monthly credit on your bill. To learn more about this program click here.

Routers and Services

Most customers will want or need a wireless device. They will need to access the internet on phone or tablet throughout the house. This device will plug into our small termination box located inside the home with an ethernet cable. These routers can be leased from Axiom for $7.50 a month, and Axiom will provide support for the device. Alternatively, the customer may also purchase their own wireless router, which typically cost between $50 and $300, depending on the options and power of the device. While we will not be recommending wireless routers, check out the NYT and CNET articles reviewing specific routers. Remember that many of the expensive routers are for gamers or users with heavy graphic content, not the typical user. We also recommend that you consider reviews for wireless routers closer to when they are needed, for the technologies and features may change. Many have inquired about DirecTV or cable services in comparison to our service. We will not provide any content across the network, only the transmission system for others to provide content to the customer. That gives you the ability to look for the streaming options that may make sense for you. You can subscribe to individual services such as a Netflix or to several different companies providing streaming of local channels and other common programming in a manner that resembles a cable bundle - Youtube TV is an example. Remember that if you decide to partake in streaming of 4K video - an optional supercharged Bluray plus quality picture newly offered by several services - a higher speed level may be required.

Service Delivery to the Premise

The two means by which service (drop) is delivered to a premise.

1. Overhead delivery from telephone pole:  Typically to the exterior of the building, adjacent to the power meter. This normally follows the power line and leads to the Network Interface Device (NID).

2. Through conduit to the premise:  The NID is mounted on the side of the premise or in the basement, directly adjacent to where the conduit exits in/out of the premise.

a. In the cases where the conduit terminates inside the premise, the Homeowner, Owner Representative, or Business Owner (Owner) will need to be present, and Hawkeye/Axiom will coordinate this. The location of the NID will be determined by Hawkeye/Axiom and is typically co-located with the breaker panel and/or power meter.

Hawkeye, the contractor for delivering service to the premise, will NOT be contacting people before they hook up the NID unless there are extenuating circumstances such as a scary dog or a service that terminates inside of the premise versus the normal outside location (2.a.). After the drop is connected to the premise, Hawkeye will test and certify the drop, which could take a few weeks.

Once the drop has passed testing and is completed, Axiom will contact the Owner to schedule a time for an Axiom tech to go inside the premise. The tech will coordinate, run the fiber from the NID, through the wall, to ONE location. Axiom will terminate the fiber and mount the electronics inside near a power outlet in an Optical Network Terminal (ONT). Axiom will have the ability to be flexible in scheduling to accommodate homeowners who are only part-time residents or have other issues to take into consideration.

Below is a standard configuration of an ONT for planning purposes.

◊   6-1/4” high by 7-3/4” wide by 2” deep, approximately. May vary depending on availability.

◊   Depending on product availability, the ONT may be different from what is shown below.

For those Owners who have multiple locations on their properties with electrical service , or the Owner has or is willing to install multiple conduits from the pole to various potential service locations, in these cases, and only these cases, the Owner will need to designate which location they want the NID to go at, which they will do on the phone with Axiom.

Seasonal Customers/Caretakers

We recognize that many customers are seasonal residents and may have issues coordinating the interior install with Axiom. To deal with that, we have developed a process where the Owner can assign an Authorized Representative of their choice. Simply go to this link, download and fill out the attached form and email to: sales@connectwithaxiom.com. The representatives name and contact information will be used by Axiom for coordination of the broadband installation.

Conduit Verification

Many of our customers will want to install the fiber to the home in conduit. As mentioned before, it is up to the customer to provide acceptable conduit for use by our broadband contractors. Very reasonably so, many customers have mentioned that they would like to have the conduit checked before the day of the install. We encourage homeowners to contact local contractors to assist with this process. Click this link for a conduit specification sheet to guide the person you have chosen to assist you with conduit verification.
